Introduction

Against the backdrop of New York’s dazzling fashion scene, a woman in the process of transforming herself from a model into a designer is forced to live with her husband’s ex-wife when he disappears without a trace.

Director	Margarethe von Trotta Born in Berlin in 1942, Margarethe von Trotta starred in films by such directors as Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Volker Schlöndorff. In 1971, she married Schlöndorff and co-wrote scripts with him. In 1977, she directed her first feature The Second Awakening of Christa Klages (1978). With her third film, Marianne and Juliane (1981), von Trotta became the New German Cinema's most prominent female filmmaker.
